Grocery Cart Races Raised Over $750 for Guthrie County Food Pantries | Raccoon Valley Radio

There was a competitive fundraising event in Guthrie County and area pantries won the overall prize.

The Guthrie County Agricultural Bureau held its annual “grocery cart races” to help alleviate county hunger at Hometown Foods in Panora on Friday morning and the winner of the race was Landus Cooperative. The objective of the game was to collect a limit of $50 worth of groceries, within a time limit and answer the trivial questions correctly. Guthrie County Farm

water Vice President Heath Bloomquist said they had seven teams competing with four more from other companies who donated.

That’s right, that means it’s good community involvement. Everyone knows it’s for a good cause and everyone recognizes and comes here and does their best. So everyone has food for the pantries and we’re going to give extra money so they can get what they really need.

The total amount of grocery money the event raised was just over $3

50 which will be matched by the Guthrie County Farm Bureau. Landus received a certificate for claiming the top prize.
