The incident happened in Raneh village, 60 km from Damoh district headquarters, on Tuesday, and a video of Ahirwal carrying his wife on a cart has gone viral on social media.
RP Kori, a block doctor in Hatta, said he came across the video and an investigation would be carried out. Notices will be sent to affected employees explaining why an ambulance was not provided to transport the pregnant woman to hospital, he said.
Mr Ahirwal said after his wife started having labor pains on Tuesday, he called the government ambulance service 108, but no ambulance came for two hours.
He then put her on a push cart and took her to the local Arogya Kendra where no nurses or doctors were available, he claimed.
Later, she was transferred to Hatta by a government ambulance, but after not receiving proper treatment there, she was transferred to Damoh district hospital where she is now under medical supervision. he added.
