CLARK COUNTY, Ind. –State troopers stumbled upon an unlikely vehicle on a highway in southern Indiana: a Walmart electric cart.
According to a Facebook post by ISP’s Sellersburg postSenior Private Rob Caudill came across a man driving an electronic cart while pushing a construction barrel around 5 a.m. Monday on I-265 in Clark County.
The ISP says the man was taken to Louisville, Kentucky for pending charges, while the cart was recovered and returned to Walmart.
Officials want to remind Hoosiers that unauthorized vehicles like electric carts are not allowed on the highway. Also, slower vehicles should use the right lane.
“A vehicle traveling at a speed below the established maximum should be driven in the correct lanes to allow for better flow on interstate highways,” writes ISP.
There are some exceptions for slower vehicles to use the left lane such as bad weather, traffic conditions, or to give way to an authorized (operating) emergency vehicle.
