Stolen Milton golf cart located during investigation into series of break-ins and thefts

Halton Police say a golf cart stolen in Milton has been returned to its rightful owner.

Officers said they were contacted Friday, March 25 by a resident who discovered the theft after returning to his property, in the No. 25 Sideroad and Second Line Nassagawega area, which had been vacant since the fall.

An outdoor storage garage on the property was reportedly broken into.

A police investigation revealed that the golf cart, worth $6,000, was in fact found by police on March 1 following the arrest of a 35-year-old Milton man, charged with committed a series of break-ins and robberies in Milton and Halton Hills.

It is alleged that between June 1, 2021 and March 1, 2022, the suspect stole motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs, dirt bikes and UTVs), utility trailers, motor vehicles and equipment and construction vehicles.

Investigators also charged the suspect with injuries sustained by an officer after being dragged by a vehicle a short distance while attempting to make an arrest in Burlington on February 28.

Police arrested the 35-year-old Milton man on March 1 and executed search warrants at six locations in Milton and Halton Hills, recovering a significant amount of stolen property worth around $279,000.

Police said the golf cart was among those stolen items but was not returned because at the time the true owner was unaware of the theft and had not reported the theft of the cart. cart.

The cart has since been returned.

The suspect was charged with 15 counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, three counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, seven counts of breach of probation, one count of tampering with a vehicle identification number, one count of fleeing from the police, one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle, one count of failing to stop for an accident and one count of attack on a policeman.
