A photo of an innovative ox cart, installed with an additional front tire between the support arms, is doing the rounds on social networks. The idea behind the manipulations performed in the cart is to support an extra load of cane and other agricultural products, as the agrarian belt usually uses animals to support such loads while transporting their crops.

The idea was brought to life by a group of engineering students from Rajarambapu Institute of Technology (RIT) in Sangli district, Maharashtra.

The extra tire reduces the weight that falls on the bulls and allows them to easily pull the loaded cart. The makers named the charge carrier “Saarthi”. The makers claim that the material used in the manufacture of the device has been used to make it efficient to transport a load of between 2 and 3 tons, keeping in mind the small farmers who transport their cane to the sugar mills by carts.

According to a report by ABP Majha, the final year students of RIT received funding of Rs 1000 to further develop the device and apply for a patent.

IAS agent Awanish Sharan shared a photo of the innovation on his Twitter account.

The detailed explanation of the device has also been shared on a Paddhari Updates page, with people involved in the development of the gadget explaining how it works and why it was made.
